Today the RM970#34 B’Free ; is leaving the yard, hoisting sails and heading toward La Rochelle.
What’s the story behind her name? Here is what her owner told us:
“B’Free means…be free! As far as I remember, that has always been my personal philosophy: try and live as a free man. A bit of a paradox after these lockdown periods!
My first passion, since the age of 12-13, has been motorbikes. And I’ve done everything possible to turn it into a professional occupation, to do that for a living. Doing so provides a unique feeling of freedom. Riding a motorbike gives you this feeling of escape, of freedom, of communion with the environment. Not to mention this is also a great mean of transportation and travel!
I went to sailing later on, and we were sailing cats only. We have just sold our Outremer 45, “B’Free”, the first of the series!
Sailing has become a new passion for me, essentially for the same reasons: it’s not only a lifestyle, but also a fantastic freedom machine, and a great way to travel, explore, discover, meet with Mother Nature.
So back to the RM970 B’Free, it’s like a bonus, an idea I got during the lockdown: what about doing a transatlantic regatta? I heard about the Transquadra…It would be a great way to improve my skills, and also spend more time on the water »
The RM concept, the architect, the fact that the shipyard was taken over by Grand Large Yachting, great people I already knew from my Outremer experience, all this together has taken little time to convince me!
My RM970 will be optimized for the IRC, yet comfortable enough to enjoy her with my family”.
