Every Friday we share a real story lived by RM Yachts owners.

Today, a very emotional one, narrating the part of Miro, an RM890, being an “expat boat”.

Her owner tells us her story:

“RM has meant a lot to us – I had a big operation in 2015 and in returning by road from a recuperation trip to spain,

I suggested diverting via la rochelle…. we met maxime, sue said ‘can we see one’ – fast drive to les minimes and out RM story began…

I think there were 4 or 5 visits during the build – she was finished in march 2016 and came by road to portsmouth.

This name ‘MIRO’ came about because it had to be short as there is no transome as such, and because we wanted to use the letters RM in a way which wasn’t obvious.

We had a list but no decision, but on visiting the yard, suddenly – there it was! someone had made the decision for us… who decided, Maxime, Andy – Martin himself. we don’t know but we do know the boat became famous in the UK. she was profiled in the ‘practical boat owner’ and exhibited two years running at the southampton boat show where we estimate she had nearly 1000 people aboard (there was always a queue…)

MIRO left UK on another march day, a fateful one – the original BREXIT deadline. it was just before midnight and I swore she would never come back to BREXIT britain.

I remember well seeing her off into the night sea with fred augendre and pat starting a 3 day voyage. A bit emotional to say the least!

this is very sad – we are old (sue & I) sailng time is precious. we bought a little old cornish crabber just to get on the water and here I am lying under her with a paintbrush, when I should be in france with our beautiful RM.

One day perhaps – or maybe we have to sell….”

This story has indeed touched our hearts, at RM Yachts team, but comforts us in our belief that owning an RM is all about passion and emotions!
